People often ask me why I am a chiropractor and not a “real doctor”.
I just chuckle and say I don’t do blood or any other body fluids very well. Seriously though I always knew that my desire in life was to help people live healthy lives, and I just couldn’t see how allopathic medicine was achieving health in my friends and families lives. I have been under chiropractic care since I was eight years old, my father is a chiropractor and I have seen so many lives changed through his care. I just couldn’t see doing anything else but helping people by teaching them about how their bodies function better through chiropractic care.
Both of my children Kendra and Jared have been under chiropractic care since birth and my husband and I are so thankful for that. The main reason being their health, where most parents go through colic, fevers, earaches, flu, colds and other illness we can count on one hand the amount of colds they have had and neither has ever had an ear infection. Kendra is now married to a chiropractor and the mother of my two adorable grandchildren, both who have been adjusted within minutes of their birth. Kendra has only been on antibiotics twice her whole life, once was for a broken finger (to the bone). My son Jared had an allergic reaction to mold that created a massive sinus infection (infections close to the brain require assistance), which we choose to use antibiotics. I am unable to fathom how different our lives would be without chiropractic care, I am also unwilling to turn back the clock and find out.
My goal was to be a chiropractor as soon as possible after high school graduation, that didn’t happen as planned. It was 12 years later that I began my chiropractic education at Palmer College of Chiropractic.
I have currently been providing chiropractic care to the folks of Kalkaska and surrounding communities for 16 years. It has been such an honor to come home and do what I had hoped to do, save lives and help folks make better health choices for themselves and their families.

Hi! My name is Melissa. I have been in the office here for a collective 6 years. I will be the first face you see when you enter our office! I manage the front desk, handle all insurance/payments and assist the Doctor with exams.
I am married to my best friend Randy and together we have a grown daughter, Maddie (20) and a son, Ryan (13). We love spending time outside, playing sports, hunting/fishing and spending time with extended family and friends.
I started seeing a Chiropractor as a teenager because of a "sore" back. The benefits of Chiropractic care was never really explained to me until approximately 13 years ago when I started care with Dr. O. As she explained to me that every nerve in my body was connected to my spine and if there was interference to that nerve, I wasn't functioning fully, IT ALL CLICKED! I wanted to be fully connected! I wanted to have my power on!
I love being in this office! I love the connections and relationships I am making with the practice members and other members of the staff! Thank you for allowing me to serve you!
